For the crumble topping
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter Chilled for better crumble texture.
  • 3/4 cup oatmeal Use old-fashioned oats for the best texture.
  • 3/4 cup flour Can use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease an 8x8 baking dish.
  3. Combine the apples, 1 tablespoon flour, and 1/2 cup sugar in the baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, butter, oatmeal, 3/4 cup flour, baking soda, and salt until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.
  2. Serve warm with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of caramel or honey.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. Freeze up to 2 months. Reheat in a 325°F oven for 10-15 minutes or microwave for 30-60 seconds.
