  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • to taste diced jalapeño Adjust based on heat preference.
  • 1 T. soy sauce Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 T. oil For browning the chicken.
  • 2 T. white sugar Reduce for less sweetness.
  • 1 T. hoisin sauce Check for gluten-free options if needed.
  • 1 T. garlic Minced.
  • 1 T. water
  • about 2 cups cooked brown rice Day-old rice preferred.
  • fresh basil Torn by hand to maintain aroma.
  • lettuce leaves washed For wrapping the filling.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Brown the ground chicken in a skillet with oil and minced garlic.
  2. Add diced jalapeño, soy sauce, sugar, hoisin sauce, and water, and cook until combined.
  3. When the chicken is fully cooked, add torn fresh basil and cook just until the basil wilts.
  4. Stir in cooked brown rice and heat through.
  5. Spoon the mixture into washed lettuce leaves and roll them up.
  6. Top with extra basil or fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Serve the wraps chilled or slightly warm for the best texture. Store leftover filling separately from lettuce to maintain crispness.
