Ingredients
  

For the oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup oats Rolled oats recommended for creaminess.
  • 1 banana Use ripe but firm bananas.
  • 1/2 tablespoon butter Use a small knob of butter for a glossy caramel.
  • a few spoonfuls brown sugar Watch closely to avoid burning.
  • 1 tablespoon fig preserves Thinned with a few drops of water.
  • coconut for topping Toast lightly for enhanced flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Prepare the oatmeal according to your preference.
  2. Slice the banana.
Caramelization
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the banana, butter, and brown sugar.
  2. Heat over medium-high for a few minutes until the banana is soft and caramel forms.
Assembly
  1. Arrange the caramelized bananas over the oatmeal and drizzle the extra caramel sauce on top.
  2. Thin the fig preserves with a few drops of water and drizzle it over the oatmeal.
  3. Sprinkle with coconut for decoration.
  4. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave.
