Hot Fudge Topping
  • 1 cup sugar For the hot fudge.
  • 5 tablespoons butter Melted for smooth fudge.
  • 1/3 cup milk To combine with sugar and butter.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips For melting into the fudge.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Mix the chocolate fudge cake mix, cherry pie filling, beaten eggs, and extract in a bowl until combined.
  2. Pour the mixture into a greased cake pan.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.
  4. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool.
Making the Hot Fudge
  1. In a saucepan, bring the sugar, butter, and milk to a boil.
  2. Boil the mixture for 1 minute.
  3. Stir in the chocolate chips and keep stirring until they melt.
  4. Frost the cake immediately with the hot fudge.
Serving
  1. Cut the cake in half and add a layer of frosting in between if desired.
  2. Serve slices warm or at room temperature.
