Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 1 stick unsalted butter Melted
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Dulce de Leche Layer
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
Chocolate Topping
  • 1 bag milk chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the coconut, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Melt 1 stick of butter over low heat.
  5. Mix the melted butter into the dry ingredients to form a crumbly dough.
  6. Press the mixture into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the crust cool completely.
Dulce de Leche Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, heat the sweetened condensed milk, 2 tablespoons of butter, and light corn syrup over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.
  2. Cook until the mixture turns deep beige.
  3. Pour the dulce de leche mixture over the cooled crust.
  4. Bake for another 12-14 minutes until light golden brown and bubbling.
  5. Allow the bars to cool completely.
Chocolate Topping
  1. Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler.
  2. Pour the melted chocolate over the bars and spread evenly.
  3. Refrigerate overnight to set before cutting and serving.

Notes

For best results, refrigerate the bars overnight to allow all layers to set. Serve chilled for clean slices. Pair with strong coffee or milky tea.
